Emily Parker, 29, lives in Churchdown, Gloucestershire, UK.  She gained a distinction in her foundation studies at The University of Gloucestershire and went on to study Fine Art Painting at Norwich School of Art and Design where she gained a 2:1.  Since Emily's interest in art began she has been intrigued and obsessed by the human figure.  Like most artists she loves to study the human body and regularly attends life drawing classes.  This is where most of her ideas and basis for her work begins.

She is unlike many artists because her style of painting regularly changes to adapt to the image, effect or emotion that she is trying to capture.  For example a portrait will need careful mark making to create a true representation of the sitter.  As opposed to a fashion inspired painting which needs vibrancy in its colour and boldness in its marks to create movement.  These multitude of skills allows Emily to switch between telling someones story and creating one of her own.

Emily has been involved in many exhibitions to date.  Her first major exhibition being The Hans Brinker Award in Amsterdam, 2003, where she along with four other students were chosen to represent Norwich School of Art and Design in this prestigious painting exhibition.  After graduating from university and continuing her practise Emily then went on to gain a place in The Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition 2007.  This was a major achievement for Emily as the annual exhibition is renowned among leading portrait artists and was Emily's first piece of art work to be hung in London.  In 2008 Emily then went on to have two portraits accepted into The Royal Society of Birmingham Artists Portrait Exhibition.  With a taste for exhibiting Emily held her first solo show at Coffee 1st Cafe and Gallery, Clapham, London.  The exhibition ran from the 1st of November - 15th of november 2008 and was a great success.

Through selling her work direct Emily is aware that some of her art work has reached places as far as Amsterdam, Paris, Helsinki and even Australia.  Emily prides herself on her uniqueness which is reflected in the vast number of commissions which she has been asked to do.  These pieces, include nudes, portraits, abstract paintings, landscapes and large scale art works.  All of these pieces showcase Emily's considerable and adaptable talents, and her professionalism and commitment to delivering an individual piece of work that will be loved by her customers.
